Weatherford have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Houston. Reporting to the Digital Vice President the new Product Manager for Drilling Software will be responsible for driving the strategy, product roadmap, and performance for for the overall business of our Drilling Software products on a global scale. The role will partner with sales, engineering, customers, and service teams to understand stakeholder needs and define product features that will move the needle for customers. The role will enhance existing solutions using data to improve performance, and will develop new ideas based on experience and stakeholder interactions. This includes product development direction, supporting geographical regions management teams with high profile projects coordination and product line strategy implementation, including technical and commercial support. The role will collaborate closely with all Drilling Product Lines to provide input from external and internal customers, helping to shape and define the vision and roadmap of the products portfolio.



  • Scope new products, including creating business requirements, garnering cross-functional buy-in, and full productization to market for product
  • Partners with product line and engineering to produce new products and develop go-to-market strategies
  • Enhance existing solutions using data to improve performance, and you will develop new ideas based on your experience and stakeholder interactions
  • Manages projects through a stage gate process with stakeholders for product launches
  • Manages the cross functional implementation of the plan, including driving deadlines across the organization
  • Owns the product lifecycle from conception to launch
  • Establishes and measures KPIs for product launches and rollouts
  • Ensures new products / services fulfill marketplace requirements for successful introduction into the market as well as long-term success and sustainability



  • Identifies and commercializes development projects which drive sustained long term earnings growth and are consistent with the company's strategy, values, culture, and vision
  • Develop product roadmap that align with business strategy and manage technology partnerships


  • Work with customers to better understand their needs and what would move the needle for them
  • Owns communication of new product requirements and provides project updates across the organization to gain alignment with stakeholders
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, manage sensitive customer needs and escalations, and balance business needs against technical constraints


  • Develops financial models, business cases, and product documentation needed to support product and service investment
  • All employees have an accountability to the organisation to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses
  • Costs incurred should be within approved budget and processed within agreed time frames and following the relevant financial policy and procedure



  • Responsible for effective staff leadership, performance management by setting objectives and driving appraisals and communication
  • Provides mentorship for other Product Managers around the Product Launch Process and pipeline management
  • Works to improve current processes and create efficiencies for the team



  • Bachelor’s degree in Energy/Engineering/Information Science/Management or similar field
  • 7+ years in software product management or equivalent
  • 5+ years managing products in the energy industry
  • 3+ years of experience with drilling software development
  • Experience operating in a global environment
  • Strong strategic aptitude; proven ability to define the right business strategy and develop the product roadmap to deliver it
  • Proven ability to build business capability models, defining business strategies and producing product roadmaps for a portfolio of products
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence stakeholders without formal authority, leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
  • Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative solutions for complex customer problems
