Responsibilities

Weatherford has a fantastic opportunity for a Global Category Manager - Logistics, to join our growing team in Houston. The Global Category Manager - Logistics, is responsible for Category Management, procurement activities, and supplier development, plus the overall strategy and sourcing effort for Logistics. Day to day you will be qualifying and establishing supplier capabilities as well as managing suppliers throughout Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal/Quote processes.

 

 Category Manager Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify relevant suppliers in local market to support component outsourcing strategy 
  • Verify suppliers financial stability 
  • Create and manage RFP/RFQ with suppliers in local market to support Global Sourcing Team 
  • Communicate with Global Sourcing Team to understand engineering requirements and material specifications for RFP/RFQ components 
  • Manage suppliers through RFP/RFQ process by ensure suppliers understand component requirements and quote packages in accurate and timely manner 
  • Coordinate between Quality Engineer Specialist and Supplier for first article sample audit process 
  • Support negotiations as well as creating and managing agreements 
  • Provide support during sourcing initiatives, including total cost of ownership analysis, sourcing strategy development, fact-based negotiations strategy development & execution 
  • Track and manage key supplier performance indicators related cost, quality and delivery of materials and services 
  • Support Purchase Order process and prepare purchase orders and requisitions 
  • Maintain procurement records 
  • Approve invoices for payment and check all invoices to insure correct price then follow-through to insure that materials ordered have been received and examine condition of materials received 
  • Develop and manage mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers and manage issue resolution where necessary with supplier quality and service 
  • Oversee periodic business performance review process with supply base 

Qualifications

REQUIRED

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline
  • Legally authorized to work
  • 10+ years of experience in general sourcing, strategic sourcing, outsourcing, supply chain management or similar experience
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Experience with e-sourcing tools and methologies
  • Experience in negotiating both domestic and international agreements 
  • Demonstrated track record for closed collaboration with stakeholders and delivering significant and measurable savings in a large, complex and fast-moving organization
  • Ability to interact in English and potentially other language relevant in local hub
  • Intermediate Excel user and proficient in MS Office suite

 

    PREFFERED

 

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or master’s degree
  • 10+ years involved in Supplier Relationship Management
  • Experience in working across various functions, businesses and regions
  • Supply Market expertise in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Certified Purchasing Professional CPP, CIPS, CSPC or CPM
  • Advanced Excel user
